Keith Conning: I taught in the Berkeley Unified School District from September 1968 to June 1998. I served on the West Campus Neighborhood Committee, which met with Levi Poe to discuss neighborhood concerns. We lived at 2235 Browning Street, Berkeley from 1965-1999,which was one block from West Campus. I was the Block Captain of the 2200 Block of Browning Street. Levi lived on the Arlington, which was the old route of the Key System Trains.. We saw his big motorhome parked in his driveway every time we drove up the Arlington to visit Marian's mother on San Juan Avenue. The Berkeley High School cross country and track teams would pass his house on our way to Kensington. Levi was nine years older than me. I resided in Berkeley for 38 years from 1961 to 1999.
Levi was a good man, who devoted his life to education.
