MULTI-EVENTS LEAD DUCKS TO UW INVITATIONAL

This Week:
While a majority of the Oregon track and field team will continue its mid-season training, a small group of Ducks will be traveling to the UW Invitational, Friday-Saturday, Jan. 30-31.

Oregon Entries: 
The Ducks will be well represented in the multi-events, with Joe Delgado,Alec Fellows, Blake Kemp and Mitch Modin competing in the men’s heptathlon and Ashlee Moore competing in the women’s pentathlon.
Greg Skipper (weight throw), Ryan Hunter-Simms (shot put) and Brittany Mann (shot put) will be representing the throws group, while dual-sport athlete Tony James will take to the track for the first time this season.
 
Rankings:
The Men of Oregon moved up to No. 1 in the USTFCCCA rankings while the women’s team dropped a spot to No. 4.
National Top 10:
The men’s team has nine national top-10 marks with three apiece in both the 3,000 and 5,000. Edward Cheserek leads the nation in the 3,000 with his time of 7:49.56 and Eric Jenkins tops the NCAA list in the 5,000.
The women’s team has eight top-10 marks with four coming from Jasmine Todd and Jenna Prandini who rank in both the 60 and the long jump. Todd currently leads the nation with a 7.15 60 time she set in the opening week at the UW Preview.
 
Bowerman Watch:
After UO’s Laura Roesler became the first Oregon woman to take home The Bowerman Trophy in December, fellow NCAA Champion Jenna Prandini is on the preseason watch list for the award this season.
On the men’s side, sophomores Edward Cheserek and Devon Allen are in the group of 10 on the watch list.
 
2014 Sweep: 
The Ducks are coming off a sweep at the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., where the men won with 62 points and the women won an instant classic decided by a 4x400 relay win to close the meet.
 
Duck Dynasty:
The Women of Oregon are now five-time defending NCAA Indoor Champions. The streak is tied with LSU for the longest in NCAA history which won five straight from 1993-97.
Bright Future:
The 2015 Oregon men’s and women’s track and field recruiting classes were both ranked among the top two in the nation by Track and Field News. The women’s team brought in the top class for the second-straight year No. 1 with five All-Americans. The men’s team was No. 2 with three All-Americans.
