Jarvis Gotch Sets World-Leading Long Jump Mark at Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Louisiana Tech's Jarvis Gotch won the long jump with a world-leading jump, winning the event and breaking his own school record, as action wrapped up at the Vanderbilt Indoor Invitational late Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee.
Gotch's world-leading mark for the season of 26-7.75 (8.12m) came on his first attempt as he broke his own school record - set last week - by five inches. The Carencro native also finished fifth in the 60m dash with a time of 6.82 during the final day of competition amidst several top-25 ranked teams at the meet.
Bianca Jackson also recorded a fifth-place finish as she ran 8.56 in the 60m hurdles finals Saturday evening, an improvement upon her 8.69 prelims time from earlier in the day.
Mia Adams set a personal best triple jump mark as she finished ninth with a jump of 40-0 (12.19m) while Jamelia Johnson placed 14th with a jump of 39-5.75 (12.03m).
Morgan Keesee notched a season-best shot put throw of 43-8.5 (13.32m) to finish 11th while SaBrittany Angelle followd in 12th with a throw of 43-4.5 (13.22m).
LaQuanda James ran 24.71 to finish eighth in the 200m while the 4x400m relay squad ran 3:42.25 to finish third with a time currently ranking 22nd in the nation.
Louisiana Tech will have the next two weekends off before the program heads to the Tyson Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas on Feb. 14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
