Falcons Continue Action at Air Force Invitational Zoe Casteel recorded the eighth-best pole vault clearance in Academy history. MORE PRINT EMAIL TEXT Zoe Casteel Jan. 23, 2015 Complete Results USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force track and field team wrapped up the second day of competition at the 25th Air Force Invitational on Friday, Jan. 23, at the Academy's Cadet Field House. In addition to four scoring finishes from the field and the eighth-best women's pole vault clearance in Academy history, the Falcons also competed in several qualifying and unseeded events. Freshman John Reynolds recorded a distance of 20'8½" in the long jump to finish 10th overall and eighth in the Division I field, while junior Spencer Baldwin tossed 59'1½" in the weight throw to finish sixth in the DI standings. The women also added points in the weight throw, as senior Danielle Tabb finished eighth in Division I (11th overall) with a throw of 50'11". Freshman Tyler Berson scored for the Falcons in the Division I field of the heptathlon, as he placed 10th in his multi-event debut. Following a career-best time of 9.00 in the 60-meter hurdles, the freshman added debut marks in the pole vault (eighth, 12'3½") and 1000-meter run (fifth, 2:52.18) to tally 4,216 points. Two Falcons qualified for tomorrow's finals in the sprints and hurdles after today's preliminary races. SophomoreAlexa Chacon finished seventh in the first-round of the 60-meter hurdles (9.04), while senior Jake Spuller earned the same placement in the 200-meter dash qualifier (22.15) Several non-scoring events were also contested today. Behind a winning time of 4:27.47, sophomore Jason Engel paced a strong Air Force field. Classmate Ryan Graffinished second (4:29.45) and junior Sean Bapty took third (4:30.63), while freshman Andrew Milliron (fourth, 4:31.14) and junior Grant Caswell (fifth, 4:31.24) rounded out the top five.  Reynolds finished second in his high jump debut after clearing 6'4¾", while sophomore Zoe Casteel tied for the same placement in the pole vault following a career-best clearance of 12'5½". Casteel's clearance also moved the sophomore into a tie for eighth on the program's all-time list. The Falcons added an additional top-five finish in the women's pole vault, as junior Riley Vann finished fourth with a clearance of 11'11¾". Sophomore Kyle Pater earned a fifth-place finish in the men's event behind after clearing the bar at 15'1". The Falcons wrap up action at the 25th Air Force Invitational tomorrow (Jan. 24), beginning at 11:00 a.m.
