USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Highlighted by an Academy pole vault record from senior Joey Uhle and five additional top-10 marks, the Air Force track and field team wrapped up a successful day of competition at the 25th Air Force Invitational this afternoon.
Uhle cleared a program-best mark of 18'2½" to finish as the top collegiate in the seeded pole vault competition. Tying for the best clearance of the day, Uhle added a half-inch to the program standard and took over #2 on the Mountain West Conference's all-time list.
In addition to the program record on the pole vault, the Falcons' vertical jump team also impacted the high jump's top 10, as sophomore Taylor Smith cleared 7'1½" to win the event and move into second on the program's all-time list. Smith also bettered the program's long-standing Class Record, adding an inch to a mark that had stood since 1995.
