DMR, 4x1 mile, Kiles Pick Up Wins for Men's Track & Field at PSU Relays

PRINCETON, N.J. – Picking up victories in three events, the Princeton University men’s track and field team turned in a strong showing at the 2015 Penn State Relays.
Two of the Tigers’ championships came in the distance medley and 4x1 mile relays. In the DMR, Princeton edged out Penn State’s ‘B’ squad with a time of 10:01.03. Together, Bradley Paternostro,Garrett O'Toole, Noah Kauppila, and Luke Brahm posted the fastest time in the country so far this season. Clocking in at 10:05.29, the Nittany Lions’ mark sits behind Kansas’ ‘A’ team time of 10:04.20.
Brahm, Kauppila, O’Toole and Paternostro would also finish second in the 4x800m relay. The Tigers' time of 7:25.07 was more than six seconds faster than the old meet record of 7:31.17. Penn State's 'B' squad took home the top prize with a facility record time of 7:22.10.
With a time of 17:03.95, Sam Berger, Matt McDonald, William Bertrand, and Zach Albright crossed the finish line more than 30 seconds ahead of St. Joseph’s Paul Szulewski, Quinn Davis, Rad Gunzenhauser, and John Mascioli. Princeton’s ‘B’ team of Connor Martin, Mike Mazzaccaro, Kenan Farmer, and Wolfgang Beck rounded out the top three, clocking in at 17:39.76.
Securing the Tigers’ lone individual win, August Kiles (Tamalpais HS, Mill Valley, CA) rose to the top of the podium in the pole vault with a mark of 4.80m (15-09.00). Penn State’s Patrick Anderson came in second (4.65m), while Princeton’s Ben Gaylord was third, clearing 4.50 (14-09.00).
The Orange and Black had three top-six finishers in the shot put, led by the event’s runner-upChristopher Cook, who put forth a toss of 16.88m (55-04.75). Teammates Mitchel Charles [Rancho Palos Verdes, CA (Peninsula)] and Scott Rushton were fourth and sixth, respectively, with marks of 16.27m (53-04.50) and 15.80m (51-10.00).Colin Reilly and Xavier Bledsoe came in seventh and eighth in the high jump with marks of 1.96m (6-05.00) and 1.91m (06-03.25).
Crossing the tape in 6.91, John Hill placed fifth in the 60m dash. Ray Mennin recorded a top-10 finish in the 500m with a time of 1:06.79, while Stephen Rossettie and Jack Leahey were fifth (4:21.70) and sixth (4:23.98) in the mile run. Charlie Stahl was ninth (4:24.89).
Princeton will host the Tiger Open on Saturday, Jan. 24.
