Korir, Hall Win Second EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler
PITTSBURGH - Traversing five city neighborhoods and four bridges, more than 4,000 finishers
took on the 2nd
EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler - Pittsburgh's premier fall road race. Runners rejoiced at favorable weather conditions with temperatures in the high 30s and overcast skies for the start of the race.
The road race boasted a deep elite field that ensured an exciting finish for the men's and women's race. Through the hilly first three miles, Kenyans Leonard Korir, 27,
Nelson Oyugi, 24, and Team USA Minnesota member
Jonathan Grey, 26, led the front of the male pack, setting a swift 4:41 minute per mile pace. Korir and Oyugi pulled away to later cross the finish line just 4 seconds apart with Korir claiming the men's title in 46 minutes, 52 seconds-just two seconds shy of the course record.
In the women's race, 2012 USA Cross Country champion
Sara Hall, UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon record holder Sophy Jepchirchir, 20, and Ethiopian Buze Diriba, 20, battled right down to the finish. Hall, 31, outkicked Diriba to break the finish line tape first to claim the top overall and American female titles-both Hall and Diriba finished with an official time of 53:47, a new race record.

Increased Prize Purse and Olympic Marathon Trials Qualifying Bonus at Half Marathon on Monterey Bay
MONTEREY, Calif. - Organizers of the Half Marathon on Monterey Bay have upped the ante to draw some of the country's fastest half marathoners. A $20,000 prize purse is being awarded to the top eight male and female runners along with bonuses for the top three American runners. The race, to be held on Sunday, November 16 in Monterey, CA, also offers a new $500 bonus to any runner who qualifies for the US Olympic Marathon Trials with a time of sub-1:05 for men and sub-1:15 for women.
The 2013 defending champion, Jacob Chemtai, and runner-up,
Nelson Oyugi, both standouts from the AmeriKenyan Running Club, are returning to this year's competition. They will be challenged by Benson Cheriuyot, 2nd place finisher in 2011 and 5th last year. All will be attempting to break the course record of 1 hour, 2 minutes, 32 seconds, (set by Ian Dobson in 2006), which will pay an additional bonus of $1,000.
A recent addition to the men's roster includes Guor Marial, a South Sudanese track and field athlete. Marial competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics as the "man without a country" since South Sudan did not have a recognized National Olympic Committee. He was one of four athletes competing under the Olympic flag rather than that of an individual country. Marial has a marathon PR of 2:12:55.

Tampa and Denver Runners Get First Taste of Victory at Fifth Annual Disney Wine & Dine Half
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (November 9, 2014) - In his first attempt at running a half marathon, Chris Sorrick of Tampa raced away with the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon on Saturday night at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando,
With a winning time of 1 hour, 17 minutes, 39 seconds, Sorrick, 21, finished more than a minute ahead of second-place finisher
Cliff Gerber of East Brunswick, NJ (1:18:55) and nearly two minutes in front of third-place finisher Jerry Lawson
of Jacksonville, Fl.. The only challenge Sorrick faced was a steady rain that made the 13.1-mile course a little slick.
"It was pretty slippery in some areas so you had to be really careful,'' Sorrick. "But I just kept going and going.''
Jenn Berry of Denver was the first female finisher with a time of 1:27:59. It was Berry's third straight runDisney victory after winning the 10K and half marathon during the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend this summer.
