Division 2 Boys (Top 2 teams advance to state meet)
Junior Andy Ehrenberg (Redwood, Larkspur), the favorite, tenth in 2012 in 16:32, seventh in 2013 in 15:46, and first in 2014 in 15:32 (5:11 per mile). He had the second best time all day. His father was a professional cyclist. Junior Matt Salazar (Casa Grande, Petaluma), second in 2012 in 16:06, sixth in 2013 in 15:26, placed second this morning in 15:35 (5:12). He had the fourth best time all day. Senior Jackson Crose (Livermore), fourth in 2012 in 16:14, third in 2013 in 15:13, was third again in 15:48 (5:16). He had the ninth best time all day.
It could be argued that the first runners on the course had better footing because of the rain and mud. Five of the top 14 times were set in the Division 2 Boys race, which was the first race of the day. (See the chart below.)
Casa Grande (Petaluma) won with 97 points. Dublin was second with 117. Maria Carrillo (Santa Rosa) was third with 126.
