Deep Fields Set for the 2nd EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - U.S. half-marathon record holder Ryan Hall and 4-time World Championship team member Sara Hall, husband and wife, headline a deep field of athletes racing in the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler. The second edition, scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 9, features a guaranteed prize purse of $15,500, including $2500 for each race champion plus new U.S.-only bonuses totaling $5000 as part of Pittsburgh Three River Marathon Inc's (P3R) inaugural American Development Program.

Big Sur International Marathon® Partners With Outside Interactive for Digital Race Experience

HOPKINTON, Mass. (November 3, 2014) -
Outside Interactive, a developer of forward motion video technology for indoor exercising, today announced it is partnering with the iconic Big Sur International Marathon to create a virtual race-day experience for its Half Marathon on Monterey Bay and Pacific Grove Lighthouse 5K, which will enable runners to relive the excitement of the day, train on the famous courses prior to race day, and even compete remotely no matter where they are in the world, at their own pace on their own treadmill.

Exclusive footage will be shot the morning of this year's races on November 15th and 16th, immediately prior to the live event. Footage is shot from a runner's point of view to produce a high-definition video that allows viewers to interactively run the virtual race course with their iPad® or tablet device - with cheering spectators lining the roads - when inclement weather, travel, or deployment prevent being on the course itself.

Dallas Marathon and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children Announce 2014 Junior Race Director, Patient Champions

DALLAS - The MetroPCS Dallas Marathon and its primary beneficiary,
Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC), announced the 2014 junior race director and patient champions, selected to represent the thousands of children treated at TSRHC during MetroPCS Dallas Marathon race weekend.

"We are so grateful to have an amazing beneficiary in Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children over the last 17 years," said Patrick Byerly, president of the Dallas Marathon. "The patient champions and junior race director help make race day a memorable one for all our participants, inspiring runners to achieve their goals and adding some fun along the way."

Each year, a TSRHC patient serves as the junior race director of the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon. The junior race director helps participants learn more about the hospital and allows runners and partners to see, firsthand, patients who benefit from the marathon. He or she officially counts down the start of the race and helps spread the word about the great things TSRHC is doing.
