Tech Tent Returns to Conference
We will be hosting a Tech Tent at Running USA's annual conference on Sunday February 9. This is a great way to connect with attendees.
* Projector and screen along with Wi-Fi will be provided.
* Presenters will be provided a 15-minute segment to promote their product or service.

Member Profile: MOVE!
Helping runners of all ages perform their best and maximize training and enjoyment through setting goals is Dr. Cathy Utzschneider's personal and professional focus. She has focused her academic research, teaching, and private practice on critical elements of success for runners: preparing for, setting, and managing goals and evaluating achievements afterwards. She is particularly interested as well in the effects of athletic goals on achievements in professional and personal life - the subject of her talks to executives, educators, and athletes.
A professor of competitive performance and goal achievement at Boston College, Cathy is head coach of the Liberty Athletic Club and an individual coach in her private practice, MOVE!, where she has coached beginners to world record holders. Her next book, Mastering Running, will appear in 2014. Her first book, MOVE! How Women Can Achieve Athletic Goals, presented the MOVE! goal achievement method. She is a columnist for National Masters News and site coach for www.women-running-together.com.
She herself achieved a #5 in the world age-group ranking, won seven USA Track and Field age-group titles, and a silver medal at the Nike World Masters Games. She was also a member of a relay team which set an American age group record in the 4 x 1600-meter relay.

Pensacola Marathon Announces Sponsor
The Pensacola Marathon announced Publix as its new presenting sponsor for the 2013 event to be held November 10. The Publix name and logo will be tagged on all signage, media, website, logo, etc. declaring the race as the Pensacola Marathon Presented by Publix.
Little Rock Half Marathon Announces Sponsorship
Baptist Health has renewed its sponsorship of the Little Rock Half Marathon. The Little Rock Half Marathon, presented by Baptist Health, is part of the 12th Annual Little Rock Marathon Weekend presented by the Arkansas Democrat Gazette slated for February 28 - March 2, 2014 and benefits Little Rock Parks & Recreation.
RUN@WORK Day Celebrates its Eighth Year
On September 20, 2013 the Road Runners Club of America will promote the 8th Annual RUN@WORK Day and the 2nd Annual RUN@School Day, nationwide fitness efforts. To help you plan your RUN@WORK Day or RUN@School Day visit www.rrca.org.
Bank of America Chicago Marathon's Economic Impact
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon contributes an estimated $243.46 million in total business activity to the Chicago economy, according to a new economic impact report. The independent study was conducted by University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's Regional Economics Applications. Figures indicate an 11 percent growth over the 2011 Bank of America Chicago Marathon's economic impact of $219.7 million.
Rock 'n' Roll Events Canceled
Competitor Group announced that the Rock 'n' Roll St. Pete Half Marathon, scheduled for February 9, 2014, in St. Petersburg, FL, and the Rock 'n' Roll Pasadena Half Marathon, scheduled for February 16, 2014 in Pasadena, CA, have been canceled.
Philadelphia Marathon Finalist in Competition
Philadelphia Marathon organizers announced that the race has been named as a finalist in the 2013 Aetna Voices of Health contest. The competition includes 33 organizations which support health and wellness initiatives across the United States. The organization that receives the most online votes, from now through October 13, will be awarded $30,000 to further its mission. Vote at this link.
Mankato Marathon Registration Update
The Mankato Marathon Half Marathon, presented by Mayo Clinic Health System, scheduled for October 20, 2013, is 75% full. Race organizers estimate 5,000 participants in the weekend's events which in addition to the half marathon include the Pork Power 5K on October 19, and the I&S Group 10K, relay marathon and full marathon on October 20.
RRCA Accepting Championship Bids
Bidding is now open for the 2014 RRCA Championship Event Series for Regional and State events. Championships are awarded to races ranging from 1 mile and beyond. Only RRCA member clubs and events in good standing may bid for an RRCA Championship designation.
Register for Marine Corps Marathon Weekend Events
The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) opened registration on September 10, for events occurring during MCM Weekend in October including the Runners bRUNch (5K run and catered brunch) and the First Timers Pep Rally, for those running their first marathon.

Flocasts Acquires MileSplit
Flocasts announced the acquisition of the nation's premier network for high school track and field and cross country Milesplit. The partnership will allow both Milesplit and Flotrack to better promote the sport of the track and field. The two websites will continue to independently coexist, but will share both original content and resources to improve internal and external development.

Vision Event Management is a road running event producer that owns or produces over 20 events per year. Mudathlon is a mud and obstacle course event series with 3 events per year. In 2012 the 2 companies produced events for over 100,000 participants. The events VEM and Mudathlon produce cover 8 states in cities such as Atlanta, Little Rock, Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago. The two companies are based in Westfield, IN, an Indianapolis suburb.
We are looking for a person with 3-5 years of event production experience preferably in the running industry but not a must. The person must be willing to relocate to Indianapolis. The job will entail travel and working many weekends through-out the year. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organization skills to be able to manage numerous events at once. A strong detailed oriented self-starter with creativity and problem solving skills will thrive in this position.
