Few Changes Take Place in Newest Division II Regional Rankings

September 24, 2013

NEW ORLEANS - After major shakeups in a number of Division II regions just one week ago, all is relatively quiet in the newest edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DII Regional Rankings released Tuesday.

REGIONAL PDFs: Regional Summary | Week-by-Week
Division II XC Rankings Central

Not a single top-ranked team — or, for that matter, a second-ranked team — in any of the regions, male or female, moved from last week to today. The closest action to the top happened at the No. 3 spot in a pair of regions.

In the men’s East Region, Franklin Pierce took over the third spot from Adelphi after claiming the UMass Dartmouth Invitational this past weekend behind an individual win from Antoine Gisore.

While Adelphi’s men slipped to No. 4 in the East, their female teammates moved up one spot from No. 4 to No. 3 in their East Region rankings. The Panthers were the top DII program at Iona’s Br. Doyle Meet of Champions with a 14th-place finish.

The Dallas Baptist women made the biggest jump of any program this week, improving four spots from No. 10 to No. 6 in the South Central Region, which boasts a nation-best six automatic qualifying spots for the NCAA Championships.

NCAA Division II Regional Championships will be held November 9 & 10, and more information about host sites and dates for specific meets can be found at Regional Championships Central.
