Former USC Director of Track & Field Ron Allice was honored at the awards dinner of the 13th Annual Track & Field Golf Tournament held at the Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. tonight (Sept. 13). Allice, who retired on June 8 after 19 years of leading USC's program, was given the Heritage Award for lasting contributions to the Trojans' track and field program by USC Athletic Director Pat Haden.
USC's proud track and field heritage was on display as more than 10 Olympians including Bob Seagren, Guy Abrahams, Rex Cawley, Moose Thompson, Torri Edwards, Allyson Felix, Felix Sanchez, Bryshon Nellum, Angela Williams, Quincy Watts and Randy Williams were on hand for the festive event. Angela Williams, the only four-time male or female NCAA 100m champion, gave a heartfelt salute to her former coach, which was echoed by all in attendance.
The golf tournament is a major fund-raiser for USC's track and field program and continues to grow. As part of USC's year-long salute of athletic excellence, the track and field program will be honored at the Arizona-USC football game on Oct. 10 at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
