Elliott To Compete In Fifth Avenue Mile

(Colorado Springs, CO) - Matt Elliott (Brooks) will line up for the first time in New York City for the storied Fifth Avenue Mile to be hosted by the New York Road Runners and presented by Nissan. Elliott, who finished 4th at the 2013 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships 1500-meters, will be closing out a season that saw him dip under 3:38 for the event four times culminating in a personal best of 3:36.61. Even though Elliott broke 4:00 for the mile four times this year, as well, with a career best of 3:57.16, Sunday's race through the center of Manhattan will pit him against some of the best middle distance runners in the world, including 2013 World Championships silver 800-meter medalist Nick Symmonds and US Olympians Bernard Lagat, Leo Manzano, Lopez Lomong and Even Jager.

Williams Returns To Defend Great Cow Harbor 10k Title

(Colorado Springs, CO) - It only took Alisha Williams (adidas/BRC) seven tries to win the Great Cow Harbor 10k, and after her 2012 win she returns to defend her title at the classic fall road race held outside of New York City in Northport Village on Saturday. Williams will face two tough challengers in adidas/BRC teammates Mattie Suver and Wendy Thomas. Suver is coming off of a runner-up finish at the U.S. 20k Championships where Thomas was 5th after winning the America's Finest City Half Marathon. All three are preparing for fall marathons and will supplement the race with additional workouts as Thomas looks to line up at the U.S. Marathon Championships in two weeks, hosted by the Twin Cities Marathon, while Williams and Suver are in training for the New York City Marathon.
