I attended an indoor track meet in Madison Square Garden back in the 1960's.
During the television broadcast there was alot of talk about the fastest starter. Here are the reaction times.

Jesse Williams (USC 2006) won the high jump at 7-6. Jamie Nieto (Valley HS, Sacramento 1994; Sacramento CC 1996; Eastern Michigan 1998) was third at 7-2 1/2.
Keshia Baker (Fairfield HS 2006; Oregon 2010) won the 500 yard dash in 1:03.74 (World Leader, American Leader).
Brenda Martinez (RANCHO CUCAMONGA HS 2005; UC RIVERSIDE 2010) won the mile in 4:34.62 (World Leader, American Leader).
Ginnie Crawford (USC 2006) was fourth in the 50 hurdles in 6.90. She was in the same class as high jumper Jesse Williams at USC. Dawn Harper (UCLA 2006) was fifth in 6.96.
