Shanieka Thomas has been named the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State sophomore Shanieka Thomas (Clarendon, Jamaica) has been named the Mountain West Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced today.
Thomas set personal bests in the triple jump and long jump at the Aztecs' season-opening meet Saturday at the Bronco Invitational in Nampa, Idaho.
Thomas finished second (and first among collegiate athletes) in the triple jump with a leap of 43 feet, 3 ¼ inches. It is the top mark in the country and more than a foot farther than the second-best triple jumper Andrea Geubelle of Kansas (42-02.75). It is also the third-best mark in school history and better than the 42-07.00 she jumped last year at the NCAA Indoor Championships in a ninth-place finish.
Thomas also took fourth (and second among collegiate athletes) in the long jump with a leap of 19-09.75. It is the third-best mark in the Mountain West this year, the fifth best in school history and tied for the 25th best in the
