The sophomore breaks her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles.

Stanford, Calif. - The Cardinal track and field teams dominated the Bronco Invitational, winning several events as it previewed the site of the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships in March. Among the highlights of the meet were a new school record in the 60-meter hurdles from Kori Carter [SO Claremont, CA (Claremont HS)] and the triumphant return of Arantxa King [RS SR Medford, MA (Medford HS)] in the long jump.
King made her return from injury and a redshirt season as the top collegian in the long jump. She leaped 20-5, which was not far off the automatic standard to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Karynn Dunn [JR Diamond Bar, CA (Diamond Ranch)] also leaped well, finishing fourth with a mark of 19-8 ¼.
Stanford finished 1-2-3 in the pole vault led by Katerina Stefanidi who cleared 13-1 ½. Freshman Katie Zingheim made her debut also clearing 13-1 ½, but finishing as the runner-up based on misses. Ellie McCardwell finished third with a mark of 12-7 ½.
Carter lowered her school record in the 60-meter hurdles to 8.31 and captured the meet title in the process. Katie Nelms finished just behind Carter in 8.33, which would have tied the previous school record.
Also in the sprints, Shataya Hendricks and Carissa Levingston swept the top two spots in the 60 meters. Hendricks won with a time of 7.48, while Levingston improved her season best to 7.62.
Several Stanford sprinters doubled in the 200 meters with Hendricks leading the way with a time of 24.21. Levingston was not far behind with a time of 24.36, followed by Carter with a tome of 24.54.
The Cardinal were also victorious in the 4x400-meter relay as the team of Sarah McCurdy, Kellie Schueler, Hendricks and Carter won in 3:41.74.
Geoffrey Tabor led the Stanford men by winning the shot put with a mark of 58-6 ¾. The toss was an indoor best for Tabor who is third all-time at Stanford.
The Cardinal also went 1-2 in the pole vault as Corey Dysick won the meet with a clearance of 16-0 ¾, while Dalton Duvio was second with a mark of 15-7.
In the jumps, Darian Brooks captured the triple jump title with a mark of 47-9 ¾. Kevin Cardey also impressed, finishing second in the long jump with a mark of 22-7 ¼.
On the track, freshmen Luke Lefebure led the middle distance runners in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.01.
The top Cardinal sprinters were Brooks in the 60 meters with a time of 7.02 and Cardey in the 200 with a time of 22.78.
The Cardinal will be back in action next weekend at both the New Balance Boston Indoor Games and the Razorback Invitational hosted by Arkansas.
