Shawn Barber (Flight Control, Kingwood, Texas) won the Texas A&M High School Classic pole vault at 17-6 1/2 to equal the second best ever indoors.

Junior Nia Dorner (Pacific United; Rosemont HS, Sacramento), who ran 24.71 indoors at altitude and 24.22 outdoors for the 200 meters in 2011, placed sixth in the prelims at 25.13 to qualify for the final. Alexandra Diaz (LSI Sprint), the CCS champion, was 17th in 25.69.

Dorner also placed eighth in the 400 meters in 57.72 to qualify for the final.
