LAKE BUENA VISTA,
Fla. - (Feb. 22, 2015) - One year after
Lauren
Passell feared she would never run again because of a broken hip, she
found herself in another unlikely place Sunday - the winner's circle at the Disney Princess Half Marathon presented
by Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
Passell,
30, from New York City, slipped on some ice last winter, breaking her right hip
and plunging her running future into serious doubt. "I didn't think I'd ever run
a race again,'' she said.
Turns
out, all she really needed was a little Disney magic.
"I
was afraid actually (to run again) but this race really pulled me through,''
said Passell (above, image via runDisney), who couldn't walk for four months
after the injury, took disability leave from her job and didn't run normally
again for nearly a year. "When I was stuck on my couch (during her recovery), I
would dream about running here, I would fantasize about it. I mean, for me to
run through Disney, it means the world to me. I feel like the luckiest person in
the world.''

NAPA, Calif. - Three recent champions will return to the world-renowned
Napa Valley and anchor a small, but talented, elite field at the Kaiser
Permanente Napa Valley Marathon on Sunday, March 1, 2015:
Chris Mocko (San Francisco, Calif.), Devon Yanko (San
Anselmo, Calif.), and Michelle Meyer (San Francisco, Calif.). They will
head a sold-out contingent of 3,000 participants, many of whom return to the
race year after year to experience its fast point-to-point 26.2 mile course and
rural splendor.
The gently-rolling

course is certified (for accurate distance) by USA Track & Field.
Mocko and
Yanko have each ascended the winner's podium two times at the Napa Valley
Marathon (NVM). Mocko, age 28, won the men's race in 2011 and 2012. Yanko
(née Crosby-Helms), age 32, topped the women's field in 2007 and 2012, and her
