Francis George Mason

Francis George Mason, a resident of Oakland, CA, passed away at age 50 on Dec. 28, 2014. He was the son of Marie F. Mason and the late Robert P. Mason. Francis was a graduate of St. Mary's College High School in Berkeley and he matriculated at California State University, Hayward, where he studied psychology.
After college, Francis returned to St. Mary's to coach cross country and track. He soon became the head cross-country coach and was affectionately known as "Coach Mason".
Francis was an active participant in the Oakland Invitational Track Meet from its inception and mentored students and young people through various other Bay Area youth programs, including the Teenage Opportunity Program.
Francis was employed at the City of Belmont as a Recreation and Facilities Manager.
He is survived by his mother Marie Francoise Mason, his sister Michele Roberta Mason and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
