Pocatello, Idaho – Darius Carbin, a junior from San Jose, Calif., won the boys’ high jump in his second appearance at Simplot Games with a 6’9” jump.
“I felt good today,” said Carbin, who also placed in the triple jump with a 44’11.5” mark, earning him a fifth place medal.
Last year Carbin didn’t make the medal stand and was really looking forward to coming back for a win.
“I like the competition and seeing athletes from other states and other countries,” he said.
More than 2,000 athletes have come from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Australia to participate in the 37th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
