I went to see the movie McFarland at the Regal Cinema in Dublin on Sunday, March 1.
It is about the McFarland High School cross country team.
I enjoyed it very much as it was right up my alley. I don't usually cry at a movie, but I did for this film.
The audience applauded the movie afterwards. A friend of mine also saw the movie on another day. She reported the same audience reaction.
I met Coach Jim White at the Mt. San Antonio College Cross Country meet this fall and again in Fresno at the California Indoor State Meet.
One criticism of the movie is that McFarland won the small school divison of the State Meet. The movie gave the impression that McFarland had won the California State Championship among all schools. Also they do not compete against Palo Alto, which is in a different division.
I highly recommend this movie.
