Suver & Williams Top 25 at INC New York City Marathon; Saina 8th in Dash To The Finish 5k

(Colorado Springs, CO) - On a day where thousands of runners faced cold temperatures and a steady headwind with gusts, Mattie Suver and Alisha Williams, both competing for adidas/BRC, finished in the top 25 and as 3rd and 7th Americans, respectively, at the INC New York City Marathon on Sunday.

In a race that saw slow times and several prominent athletes unable to finish, Suver stuck it out to finish 18th overall in a personal best of 2:41.18, qualifying for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon. Meanwhile, Williams struggled over the last 10 miles of the course and was well off her 2:34 best coming in at 23rd.

Augustus Maiyo (US Army/WCAP), who led much of the early men's race, was unable to finish when a pinched nerve in his hip shut down his left leg causing him to stop just after 22 miles.

The day before the marathon, Betsy Saina (Nike) made her debut as a professional athlete finishing 11th in the Dash To The Finish 5k hosted by the New York Road Runners. Saina, who has just returned to training after taking an extensive break, posted a time of 16:20.
