OC Marathon Gears Up for 10th Anniversary Celebration
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - The
OC Marathon heads into its 10th anniversary year poised to break several event records from entries in the full and half marathons and the obesity-fighting Kids Run the OC to economic impact and charitable fundraising. Set for Sunday, May 4, 2014, the OC Marathon is considered one of the best full and half marathon courses in the state with its diverse terrain, changing vistas and majestic ocean views. The race traverses Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Irvine and Santa Ana and boasts a blend of chic coastal scenery, tranquil nature and sophisticated arts and shopping. Foot Locker Names ASICS Presenting Sponsor of XC Championships Through 2015
NEW YORK- Foot Locker has announced that ASICS America will be the presenting sponsor and official apparel, footwear and accessories provider for the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships through 2015.
The Foot Locker Cross Country Championships is the longest running national high school cross country race, as well as the oldest continuing national championship in all of high school sports. The four regional races held in the Northeast, Midwest, South, and West bring more than 10,000 of the nation's leading high school runners together for the chance to qualify for the National Finals. The Northeast, Midwest, and South regional races will be held on Saturday, November 30, while the West regional race will take place on Saturday, December 7. The Finals will be held on Saturday, December 14 in San Diego, California.
"ASICS has been a valued partner of our Championships for the previous two years, and along with them, we look forward to elevating the experience of this prestigious event for cross country runners throughout the nation," said Jeanine Zocks, vice president of strategic alliance and events.

New York Road Runners Named Title Sponsor of Millrose Games at The Armory
NEW YORK - New York Road Runners (NYRR) will become the title sponsor of the 2014 Millrose Games, the most prestigious
indoor track & field event in the United States, it was announced by Dr. Norbert Sander, President of the Armory Foundation and Mary Wittenberg, CEO of the NYRR.
The 2014 NYRR Millrose Games will take place at the
New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory, on Saturday, February 15th.
``We are thrilled that NYRR is becoming the title sponsor of the Millrose Games as part of an increased commitment to The Armory,'' said Sander. ``NYRR's continuing support allows us to build on the rich tradition of the Millrose Games and further help deserving students through our educational and athletic programs. USATF Announces 2013 Hall of Fame Class
INDIANAPOLIS - USA Track & Field announced that all-time track and field greats John Godina, Kenny Harrison, Steve Williams, Eleanor Montgomery and legendary coach Bob Larsen will make up the 2013 class to be inducted into the National Track & Field Hall of Fame.
The group makes up the 40th overall class to be inducted into the National Track & Field Hall of Fame and will be honored on Saturday, December 7, at the Jesse Owens Hall of Fame Banquet, which is a part of the USATF Annual Meeting at the J.W. Marriott in Indianapolis, Ind.
Godina, a two-time Olympic medalist and three-time world champion in the shot put, and Harrison (right), the 1996 Olympic gold medalist and American triple jump record holder, highlight the class as modern athletes inductees, which include those retired within the past 25 years.
Williams and Montgomery will represent the 2013 class as veteran athlete inductees, which include those who have been retired for 25 years or more. Williams set the world record in the 100-yard and 100-meter dashes a total of six times during the 1970s and held world records in the 220-yard dash and 4x100m. One of the original members of the Tennessee State Tigerbelles that dominated women's athletics before Title IX, Montgomery is a two-time Olympian and won a total of 13 national indoor and outdoor titles in the high jump.
Legendary coach Larsen was named NCAA track and field or cross country coach of the year four different times at UCLA before coaching Meb Keflezighi to the 2004 Olympic silver medal in the marathon. Larsen was selected in the coaches category.

Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot Announces Elite Field
SAN JOSE, Calif. - After an anticipated 28,000 recreational runners burn off pre-holiday-dinner calories at the
Applied Materials "Silicon Valley Turkey Trot" on Thanksgiving Day in downtown San Jose, more than 60 elite runners will compete in one of the fastest and most competitive 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) races in the world. Elite athletes representing five countries will toe the starting line including a half dozen current and former Olympians, 10 women with 5K personal bests under 15:30 (5-minutes per mile pace), and nine men with personal bests under 13:45 (4:26 per mile pace).
Lightning fast times are expected in the elite races, bolstering the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot's reputation as a global standout that showcases top athletic talent. The Association of Road Race Statisticians ranked the elite men's race at the Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot among the four most competitive road 5Ks in the world for the past three years. The elite women's race at the Turkey Trot was ranked as the ninth most competitive in the world in 2012.
