SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Some of the top cross country runners in the nation will be on display on Friday at Haggin Oaks Golf Course for the 2013 NCAA West Regional. The meet, which is being hosted by Sacramento State and the Sacramento Sports Commission, will feature student-athletes from 37 universities in Washington, Oregon, California and Nevada. Admission is free and parking is $5 per vehicle.

The men's 10K race will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the women's 6K race following at 11:45 a.m. The top two teams from each of the nine NCAA regionals will automatically advance to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 23. The top four individuals from team's not advancing will qualify for nationals.

The field includes six women's teams that are currently ranked among the top 25 in Div. I. That group includes Arizona which remained undefeated this season following its victory at the Pac-12 Championships. Also ranked nationally are Washington (12th), Oregon (15th), San Francisco (17th), Stanford (18th) and Boise State (25th).

Oregon is the highest ranked men's team, entering with a No. 4 national ranking. The Ducks are followed by Stanford (sixth), Portland (10th), Arizona State (28th) and Washington (29th).

Haggin Oaks previously hosted the Inter-Region Jamboree on Oct. 4, utilizing the same course that will be used on Friday. UCLA won both the men's and women's team titles at the meet. Kelsey Santiseban of Cal and Rajpaul Pannu of Saint Mary's had the top individual times.
