No. 4 Georgetown Women's Cross Country Tallies Seven on the All-Region List, Men Record Five
The Georgetown women earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships while All-American Andrew Springer earns a spot, competing as an individual on the men's side

WASHINGTON - On Monday, it was announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) that 12 members of the Georgetown cross country program (7 women, 5 men) were named All-Region following last Friday's Mid-Atlantic Regional meet. Additionally, the fourth-ranked Georgetown women's cross country team will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., for the 2013 NCAA Cross Country Championships this Saturday, November 23.

The championships, hosted by Indiana State, will be held on the same course the GU women won the NCAA title on in 2011. Earlier this season the Hoyas won the NCAA Pre-National meet, a preview for the championship event.

The honors went to All-American Madeline Chambers (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificat), All-American Katrina Coogan (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy), Annamarie Maag (Lake Oswego, Ore./Jesuit Prep), Samantha Nadel (Glen Head, N.Y./North Shore), Haley Pierce (Wilmington, Del./Tatnall School), All-American Rachel Schneider (Dover, N.H./St. Thomas Aquinas) and Kelsey Smith (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy) on the women's side.

The men's team was honored with five selections including Brian King (Sonoma, Calif./Cardinal Newman), Collin Leibold (Falls Church, Va./Gonzaga), John Murray (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury), Bobby Peavey (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) and All-American Andrew Springer (Westerly, R.I./Westerly).




On Friday, the women's team earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships with a second-place finish at the 2013 Mid-Atlantic Regional. The Hoyas utilized a 12-second spread across the top six runner, five of whom were point scorers to take second place and advance to the national championships.
The men's team was narrowly edged out for the top two spots with No. 20 Villanova and No. 15 Princeton besting the field. Springer earned a spot at the NCAA Championships with his third-place finish and will compete as an individual.

The Hoyas women will compete at the NCAA Championships on Saturday, November 23 while the men will travel to the Bronx for the IC4A Championships.
