Race Director Workshop powered by ACTIVE Network
Running USA will host a one-day race director workshop in Austin, TX, on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at the Austin Hilton which is the host hotel for The Running Event. The preliminary agenda is available HERE. Attendance is limited in order to maintain a hands-on, interactive approach. Registration is OPEN.
Running USA Inaugural Online Auction
Running USA's first online auction, which will replace the "live" auction that is typically conducted at the annual conference, will be held November 7-25, 2013. We are accepting donations now. Please contact Araceli Dagdagan to donate an item for the auction.

FitOne Announces Success in Fundraising
In the first year named as the event's title beneficiary, St. Luke's Children's Hospital received $70,000 from the FitOne 5K and 9K. The money raised will go toward programs that work to improve physical activity, nutrition and education to promote lifelong healthy habits; ultimately creating healthy children who become healthy adults.
ING New York City Marathon Sets Finisher Record
More than 50,000 runners finished the 2013 ING New York City Marathon on November 3 - the biggest field ever at the event and the largest marathon in history. Also, more than 470 million social impressions related to the Marathon from Twitter and Instagram.
RA Sports Management Announces Sponsorships
RA Sports Management announced that The Menard Financial Group will be the presenting sponsor for Houston's 12K of Christmas benefiting Yellowstone Academy. The inaugural holiday-themed race is set to take place on December 21, 2013, in Downtown Houston.
Active at Altitude Announces Schedule
Active at Altitude, the Estes Park, Colorado company specializing in endurance training camps at altitude, has announced its popular 2014 camp schedule. Camps include co-ed weekend trail running camps , 7-day and 10-day women's running camps, and a co-ed triathlon camp. Register before December 31 2013, and receive a free box of VFuel endurance gels and a set of Icespikes as an early bird gift.
Wine Country Half Marathon Announces Fundraising
The Napa-to-Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon provided a boost to Hanna Boys Center in 2013. Hanna Boys Center has served as the primary beneficiary and volunteer provider of the race since its inception in 2004. This year, Destination Races was able to make a contribution to Hanna Boys Center in the amount of $16,440. The 2014 event will be held on July 20.
RRCA Announces Grant Recipients
The Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) announced the 2013 Kids Run the Nation grant recipients. Twenty-five programs throughout the U.S. serving over 4,500 children will receive a total of $20,250 in grants from the RRCA. In addition, the RRCA will donate copies over 10,000 copies of the Kids Run the Nation: A Running Guide for Kids booklet to be given to program participants in thirty-four different programs, an in-kind donation to these programs valued at over $10,000.
MYLAPS Partners with Chevron Houston Marathon
MYLAPS announced that the Chevron Houston Marathon has selected the MYLAPS BibTag system as their timing system of choice. The event will take place January 19, 2014, with a 25,000-participant field split between the Chevron Houston Marathon and the Aramco Houston Half Marathon.
American Family Fitness Half Marathon Registration Closes
The American Family Fitness Half Marathon
closed registration with a total of 9,200 participants, a new participation record. The previous event record was 8,215 set last year. The American Family Fitness Half Marathon is a companion race of the Anthem Richmond Marathon taking place on November 16.
ING New York City Marathon Boasts Record Viewership
The 2013 ING New York City Marathon drew a record number of viewers across several programs on ABC7 this past weekend. An average of 582,000 people watched the five-hour race broadcast on ABC7, 66% more than watched the last Marathon in 2011, and topping the previous record year of 2010 when the Chilean miners raced. Another 145,000 race fans watched the coverage on 7online.com.
