San Francisco Invitational High School Varsity Boys

I started running high school cross country for Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco in Golden Gate Park in 1956 (59 years ago).  The race was 1.9 miles in length.  We started in Lindley Meadow across from Spreckles Lake and finished in Speedway Meadow.

Varsity Boys 1

Palo Alto (CCS) won the team title with 75 points (total time 1:18:57).
Granite Bay (SJS) placed second with 119 points (1:19:47).
San Ramon Valley, Danville (NCS) showed third with 148 points (1:21:00).

Junior Kent Slaney (Palo Alto), fifth in the CCS 1600 meters in 4:18.55, ninth CCS 3-mile cross country in 16:06, won in 15:13.6. 
Junior Tre Lockwood (Granite Bay), fourth in the CSUS 1,600 meters in 4:28.92 on March 7,  sixth 12:53 Sept. 2 Opening Night, was second in 15:13.9.
Jake Ritter (Granite Bay), 11th in the Opening Night 4,000 meters in 13:21, was third in 15:23.2.
 
Varsity Boys 2
Las Lomas, Walnut Creek (NCS) won the team title with 83 points (1:19.23).
Oakmont, Roseville (SJS) placed second with 132 points (4, 15, 30, 31, 52, (75) 1:21:08.
Sir Francis Drake, San Anselmo (NCS) was third with 132 points  (3,5, 26, 40, 58) 1:20.35.

Rule 9 Cross Country
Section 2 Scoring
Art. 4... Ties in team scoring shall be resolved by comparing the sixth-place finishers from the tying teams.  The team with the best sixth-place finisher shall prevail.  If one team does not have a sixth-place finisher, the team with the sixth-place finisher shall   prevail.
