USC Continues Winning Ways At The Start Of The Track Season
Trojans win eight more events at Northridge Invitational
THIS YEAR: Senior Allen Williams is in his final season as a 110m hurdler and triple jumper for the Trojans.
2014: Williams opened his season with a triple jump win with a jump of 47-8.50 (14.54m) at the Cal State Los Angeles Invitational on March 8. Placed eighth in the triple jump at the Trojan Invitational on March 22 with a season-best jump of 48-1.25 (14.66m). Williams set his 110m hurdles PR with a time of 14.39 (+0.6) to take second at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on May 4. He placed ninth in both the 110m HH (14.59) and the triple jump (46-9.00) at the Pac-12 Championships.
2013: Placed third for the men's triple jump at the Trojan Invitational with a leap of 47-2.50 (13.39m) on March 23. At the same meet, he finished 10th in the 110m HH with a time of 15.15. Earned second place in the fifth heat of the men's Open 110m HH and 27th overall at the Mt. SAC Relays with a season-best and collegiate PR-tying time of 14.76. At the USC-UCLA Dual Meet, Williams took second in the triple jump with a career-best of 49-8.25 (15.14m). Placed fourth in his heat and 12th overall at the Pac-12 Championships for the 110m HH with a time of 14.76 into a -0.6 wind. Also placed fifth at the conference championships in the triple jump with a leap of 48-3.25 (14.71m). Finished 36th overall at the NCAA Preliminary Rounds in the triple jump by leaping 48-1.25 (14.66m) and 47-7.75 (14.52m) in his first two jumps, and fouling on his final attempt.
2012: Had a season-best time of 14.76 in the 110m HH to take second at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 29. Also, set a PR in winning the triple jump at the Dual Meet with a leap of 47-11.00 (14.60m). Matched that mark with a wind-aided 47-11.00 at the Pac-12 Championships to finish 13th in the triple jump. Ran 15.09 in the 110m HH at the conference meet to finish 16th.
HIGH SCHOOL: Williams prepped at Bishop O'Dowd High in Oakland, Calif. Placed third in the 110m HH Invitational at the Arcadia Invitational with a time of 14.16. Placed second in the triple jump with a PR of 47-3.25 and won the 110m HH with a time of 14.33 at the NCS Bayshore Class A Championships. Williams placed third at the U.S. Junior Championships in the 110m HH with a time of 13.84...He ran a PR of 13.77 in the semifinals.
PERSONAL: Williams was born on June 24, 1993 in Seattle, Wash...Is a Political Science major at USC...His mother Dr. Marcheta Williams graduated from USC...Was an honor roll student and National Society of High School Scholars member....Likes to learn about Malcolm X, W.E.B. DuBois and Martin Luther King, Jr...Participated in the Day of the Child with the Black Student Association and went with his USC teammates to Weemes Elementary Day...Is a member of Omega Phi Psi and the Trojan Athletic Senate E-Board...Likes to sing, dance, watch movies and hang out with friends in his spare time...Lists Evelyn Ashford as his sports hero because she was the most consistent track and field female of all time...Received the Lindley Bowthwell Male Spirit Award and the Walk On Award in 2012.
