Tapia Selected For IAAF World Championships Marathon In Moscow


(Colorado Springs, CO) - Daniel Tapia (Mizuno) has accepted a spot on Team USA for the IAAF World Championships in Athletics to be held in Moscow, Russia, August 10-18. Tapia, who finished 9th at the 2013 Boston Marathon with a personal best of 2:14:30, was considered the team's alternate and due to a late withdrawal, was offered the opportunity to represent his country for the first time. He will be joined on the marathon squad by Jeffrey Eggleston and Carlos Trujillo.


Tapia, who will be sitting for admission to the California bar next week, will commence a two week training camp at altitude in Colorado Springs, CO, before departing for the world championships where the men's marathon will be contested on August 17th. Elliott Gets One More Chance At 1500m "A" In Belgium; Dey To Compete At Ryan Shay Mile; Korir Races Bix 7


(Colorado Springs, CO) - Matt Elliott (Brooks) will have one more opportunity in Belgium to shoot for the World Championships 1500-meter "A" standard of 3:35 on Saturday after securing the "B" last week with his 3:36.88 personal best in Bottrop, Germany.


Dey Dey (adidas/BRC) will look to continue his two-race road mile winning streak when he competes in the 6th Annual Ryan Shay Mile in Charlevoix, MI, Saturday morning. Dey will be facing defending champion and 3:55.9 course record holder Dan Clark and will be vying for top three prize money of $1000-$500-$250.


Leonard Korir (Nike) returns to the roads and faces a loaded field at Saturday's Bix 7, which will be competing for $50,000 in prize money and either $10,000 or a new car for the winner.

Elliott Wins Dilbeek Gold 1,000-meters With 2:20.30


(Dilbeek, Belgium) - Matt Elliott (Brooks) stepped down in distance to win the Dilbeek International Gold 1,000-meters on Wednesday in a personal best of 2:20.30. Elliott just missed the Dilbeek Belgium stadium record of 2:20.00 and is now ranked as the seventh fastest American this year. His last European race for the season will be the 1500-meters in Belgium on Saturday.
