Bank of America Chicago Marathon Honors Top Fundraiser John Nichols

CHICAGO - The Bank of America Chicago Marathon will recognize John Nichols, president of the Chicago-based
Disability Resource Group, Inc., as the third recipient of the Richard M. Daley and Maggie Daley Award. The award was established in 2010 to honor the Bank of America Chicago Marathon participant who raised the most funds for charity through the annual world-class event. Running on behalf of the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Illinois (SCIA),

Nichols raised more than $43,000 for a cause that he is inextricably linked to through his own personal triumph over a severe spinal cord injury.

"John Nichols and the SCIA exemplify the true charitable spirit and community connections that are part of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon," said Bank of America Illinois President Tim Maloney. "We are honored to present this distinguished award to John for his efforts in supporting an organization that, like the marathon, helps move Chicago forward."

Brooks Running Company Launches Online Community Through MapMyRun App
SEATTLE - For many, running is about more than just numbers or routes. It's also about community and connection. Now, Brooks Running
Company gives those runners a virtual gathering place: The Run Happy Group, where runners nationwide can find inspiration, education and connection. The digital community lives on
MapMyFitness properties, including MapMyRun and

MapMyFitness.

STEVENSVILLE, Md. - 10k Across the Bay race organizers have added Dave McGillivray and his company DMSE to act as Race Director for this new event. McGillivray has been the race director of the Boston Marathon and other world class running events for many years.

Mountain Running's Best Headed to New Hampshire

NORTH CONWAY, NH - The nation's best mountain runners will literally descend Cranmore Mountain on Sunday, July 21. The 26th Cranmore Hill Climb presented by Northeast Delta Dental offers a four-kilometer loop course, which the men will run three times and women will run two times. The route is a mixture of single-track trail, wide pathways, meadows, rocky terrain, and some steep ascents and descents to test the mettle of competitors.

For the first time, the USA Mountain Running Championships, the North American Central America Caribbean (NACAC) Mountain Running Championships, and the U.S. Mountain Team selection will all happen simultaneously at Cranmore resulting in the, 'race within the race,' moniker and the promise of an amazing day of competition.

"We are continuing to see a higher and higher level of competition at our USA Mountain Running Championships every year,"noted Race Director Paul Kirsch.
"The tremendous success the team has had at the World Mountain Running Championships over the past decade is causing a real growth in the depth of the field at our qualifying events and championship."

Of the 200 runners registered to date, over 80 percent are members of USATF which is the national governing body for the sport.
