Eggleston, Fischer Win XSport Fitness Rock 'n' Roll Chicago Half Marathon
CHICAGO - From celebrity athletes to part-time joggers, downtown Chicago was rockin' on Sunday, July 21 for the fifth XSport Fitness Rock 'n' Roll Chicago Half Marathon presented by HumanaVitality.

The Windy City continues to be good to elite distance runner Jeffrey Eggleston (right, photo credit PhotoRun.net). The 28-year-old from Boulder, Colo., who set his marathon best of 2 hours, 12 minutes, 3 seconds at last fall's Chicago Marathon, ran away withthe race in 1:05:41. Eggleston, who will represent the United States in the marathon at next month's IAAF World Championships in Moscow, Russia, surged just after the 10K mark to pull away from eventual second-place finisher Robert Wambua of Kenya (1:07:51).

In the women's race, the second time was the charm for
Dani Fischer of Eau Clair, Wisc., as the 24-year-old former steeplechaser from the University of Wisconsin-Madison led from start to finish to win convincingly in 1:18:33. It was over a one-minute improvement for Fischer, who finished third here last year in 1:19:35.

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Silas Kipruto will attempt to win his third straight Quad City Times Bix 7 on Saturday, July 27. If he succeeds, it will be a historic moment at the 39th edition footrace.
