Cardinal Heads to Pac-12 Championships

LOS ANGELES - The Stanford track and field teams will travel to the Pac-12 Championships on Saturday and Sunday at the new track at USC's Loker Stadium. The Cardinal women are ranked No. 14 in the country by the USTFCCCA, and the men are unranked. Stanford's women are seeking their first title since 2005 and the men their first since 2002. Combined, the Cardinal has 20 All-Americans among the two teams, and features two returning Pac-12 women's champions - 100-meter hurdler Kori Carter and javelin thrower Brianna Bain. Both hold nation's best collegiate marks this year: Carter's 54.71 in the 400 hurdles and Bain's 183-10.

Stanford Storylines
Brianna Bain: The Pac-12 winner as a freshman last year is the collegiate leader in the javelin with a school-record 183-10, which she threw at the Big Meet vs. Cal.

Kori Carter: The defending Pac-12 100-meter champion is the American and collegiate leader in the 400 hurdles after posting a dramatic school-record breaking 54.71 to edge Arizona's Olympic finalist Georganne Moline at the Jim Click Shootout in Tucson, Ariz., on April 6.

Steven Solomon: The freshman from Sydney, Australia, reached the 2012 Olympic final in the 400 when he posted a personal record 44.97 in the semifinals. Solomon placed eighth in the final and will compete in the World Championships in Moscow, Russia, in August. He has competed once for Stanford, winning the 400 in 46.91 at the Big Meet against California on April 20 and anchoring the winning 4x400 relay.

Geoffrey Tabor: The senior won the 2011 Pac-12 discus title, but fouled out of the 2012 competition without registering a legal throw.

Michael Atchoo, Tyler Stutzman: The first-team indoor All-Americans finished 1-2 at the MPSF Championships with Atchoo setting a school indoor mile record of 3:57.14 and Stutzman (3:58.85) running the first of his three sub-4s indoors in 2013. They will run the 1,500.
