Monroe runner dies Saturday after collapsing during Friday's Region VI meet

FAIRBANKS — Joseph Balko, a freshman runner for Monroe Catholic High School, died Saturday at Providence Hospital in Anchorage after he collapsed Friday after finishing a race in the Region VI Track and Field Championships.
