NEW ORLEANS –Indiana Tech’s men and women are No. 1 in the NAIA track & field team rankings for the second straight week. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the rankings on Wednesday morning
|
Both Baptist schools are No. 2 for the second straight week; they’re trailed by Nebraska schools at No. 3 for the second straight week as well. The men of Concordia and the women of Doane are both ranked third.
These are the final rankings based on the national descending order lists. The national championship fields will be announced Friday, May 15 at 10:00 AM Central time, and rankings based on entries will be released next Monday.
No. 4 Southern Oregon, No. 5 Concordia (Ore.), No. 6 Eastern Oregon, No. 7 Wayland Baptist, No. 8 British Columbia, No. 9 Doane, and No. 10 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) comprised the rest of the men’s top ten.
Their female counterparts were No. 4 Concordia (Neb.), No. 5 British Columbia, No. 6 Oklahoma Baptist, No. 7 Westmont, No. 8 Embry-Riddle, No. 9 Cornerstone, and No. 10 Aquinas.
The men’s top ten teams have been the same–if in a slightly different order–for three straight weeks, while that’s true for the last two weeks for the women’s rankings.
One men’s team joined the top twenty-five this week. No. 25 Bethel (Ind.) replaced Cumberlands after one week out of the rankings. No. 22 St. Ambrose (Iowa) was the lone women’s team to crack the rankings this week; the Bees are making their season debut in the top twenty-five.
The final NAIA rankings before the May 21-23 championships will be released Monday, May 18.
