The Hoyas Finish Strong at ECAC / IC4A Track & Field Championships

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown track & field finished competition at the ECAC / IC4A Track & Field Championships on Sunday. The three-day meet, held at Weaver Stadium on the campus of Princeton University in Princeton, N.J., served as the last meet before the Hoyas travel to Jacksonville, Fla., for the 2015 NCAA Championships East Preliminary. In the women's 800-meter run, a quartet of Hoyas qualified for Sunday's final with All-American Sabrina Southerland (New York, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cardozo) running 2:04.44 in Saturday's prelim round, the 12th-fastest time in the East region. In the finals, Heather Martin (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) finished second with a time of 2:05.60, followed by Emma Keenan (Gwynedd Valley, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) in third (2:06.18) and All-American Piper Donaghu (Portland, Ore./Grant) in fourth (2:08.09). A duo of Hoyas reached Sunday's men's 800-meter finals in All-Americans Ahmed Bile (Annandale, Va./Annandale) and Cole Williams (San Francisco, Calif./Occidental College), both qualifying automatically from their respective Saturday heats. Bile finished second in the final, clocking 1:48.92 for a new personal record (PR). In the men's 400-meter dash, All-American Joe White (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) got through the preliminary round to reach Sunday's final where he finished fourth overall, running 47.07. The time is a GU PR for the freshman.
 

 

The men's team finished seventh with 31 points behind LIU Brooklyn (60), Albany (41.50), Navy (40), George Mason (39), Hampton (34) and Cornell (34). Rhode Island, Morgan State and Princeton each recorded 29 points to round out the top 10 in the 47-team field. The women's team tied for eighth place with St. John's and Monmouth, each team scoring 29 points, behind George Mason (53), James Madison (40), Hampton (37), Albany (36.75), Penn (33), UMBC (32.75) and William & Mary (32) for the top 10 in the field of 53. The Hoyas continue the season at the 2015 NCAA Championships East Preliminary, held Thursday, May 28 through Saturday, May 30 in Jacksonville, Fla., at the University of North Florida.
