Men's World Marathon Majors Race Comes Down to TCS NYC Marathon
NEW YORK - The 2013-2014
World Marathon Majors series will come to an exciting conclusion in New York City on
Sunday, November 2, with the awarding of $1 million USD to the champions. Kenya's
Wilson Kipsang, who is making his TCS New York City
Marathon debut, knows that only a win will enable him to overhaul world record holder and compatriot
Dennis Kimetto and be crowned the world's No. 1 male marathon runner. Either Kipsang or Kimetto will receive the winner-take-all check of $500,000. Fellow Kenyan
Rita Jeptoo has already secured the women's World Marathon Majors title by scoring a maximum 100 points.
In the men's series, the gauntlet was thrown down at the
BMW BERLIN-MARATHON on September 28, as Dennis Kimetto earned his third victory of the 2013-2014 WMM series in world record fashion, timing 2:02:57. With the win, Kimetto scored 25 points to go with his 50 earned by winning the 2013 Tokyo Marathon and 2013 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, springing him to the top of the World Marathon Majors leaderboard. With a cumulative total of 75 points, Kimetto overtook Tsegaye Kebede (ETH) and Kipsang atop the standings and ensured an exciting finish to the 2013-2014 WMM series in New York City.
Kipsang, winner of the 2013 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON and 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon, knows if he finishes any lower than first in New York City, the title and $500,000 prize will belong to Kimetto.

National Basketball Association and New York Road Runners Team Up for First-Ever Relay
NEW YORK - To highlight the importance of physical activity and promote healthy living for kids and fa
milies, the National Basketball Association (NBA) is teaming up with New York Road Runners (NYRR) for the first-ever marathon relay. The NBA All-Star Relay at the TCS New York City Marathon, which will take place on November 2 during the 44th running of the race, was jointly announced today by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Mary Wittenberg, president and CEO of NYRR.
"Inspiring young people to enjoy fun, fitness-related activities is a goal shared by the NBA and New York Road Runners," said Silver. "And hosting NBA All-Star in New York City this season gives us an unprecedented opportunity to partner with Mary and NYRR to bring that message directly to all five boroughs. I look forward to participating in the marathon relay and working with NYRR to promote healthy living for all New Yorkers."
"We are thrilled to partner with the NBA on our first-ever marathon day relay," said Wittenberg. "As the centerpiece of NYRR's efforts is to get people moving, the TCS New York City Marathon inspires people of all ages to Run for Life. With the help of Adam and the NBA family, we now have the opportunity for the race to showcase the importance of physical activity for young people, and the critical role adults play to ensure that kids stay fit."

Dallas Marathon and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children Announce 2014 Junior Race Director, Patient Champions
DALLAS - The MetroPCS Dallas Marathon and its primary beneficiary, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC), today announced the 2014 junior race director and patient champions, selected to represent the thousands of children treated at TSRHC during MetroPCS Dallas Marathon race weekend.
"We are so grateful to have an amazing beneficiary in Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children over the last 17 years," said Patrick Byerly, president of the Dallas Marathon. "The patient champions and junior race director help make race day a memorable one for all our participants, inspiring runners to achieve their goals and adding some fun along the way."
Each year, a TSRHC patient serves as the junior race director of the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon. The junior race director helps participants learn more about the hospital and allows runners and partners to see, firsthand, patients who benefit from the marathon. He or she officially counts down the start of the race and helps spread the word about the great things TSRHC is doing.

Curran, Kosgei Win Marine Corps Marathon
ARLINGTON, Va. (Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014) - Most of the 20,000 runners who started today's 39th edition of the
Marine Corps Marathon have been focusing for months and months on this most revered 26.2-mile challenge.
Meghan Curran found out just a couple of weeks ago she was running MCM - her very first marathon.Running for the all-Army team, the 5-3, 110-pound West Point graduate took it all in stride, carefully pacing herself like a veteran and taking the lead for good after 17 miles along the museums of the National Mall. Curran, a 28-year-old field artillery officer and Army captain at Fort Dix in New Jersey, scored a clocking of 2 hours, 51 minutes, 47 seconds, well ahead of her three-hour projected time.
The all-Army team did even better in the men's race, sweeping the first two places with Samuel Kosgei from Fort Riley, Kan., leading the way in spectacular fashion and
Laban Sialo from Fort Carson, Colo. earning the runner-up honors.
