WEATHER: Rain off and on. I got soaked despite having a Towne London Fog overcoat made in Thailand and an umbrella. I couldn't find my REI pancho.

The Metropolitan Golf Course is located just east of the Oakland International Airport. Fans were requested to park in the old Economy Lot. However, I was directed to park at the PARK 'N FLY on 98th Avenue. We were then taken by van to the course.

I met Don Bowden, who was the first American to break the four- minute mile. He represented the USA at the 1956 Olympic Games in the 1,500 meters. He was there to participate in the awards ceremony.
