Pat Williams to Keynote Running USA 2015


NEW ORLEANS, La. - Running USA has announced that Pat Williams, co-founder and Senior Vice President of the NBA's
Orlando Magic - an inspiring leader who has motivated athletes, coaches and professionals during the course of an impressive career - will be the keynote speaker at the opening session of
Running USA 2015: The 12th Industry Conference,
powered by Active Network,

on Monday, Feb. 9.



In addition to his work in the NBA and experience as a professional baseball player, Williams is a committed runner. He has finished 58 marathons, including 13 straight years of Boston Marathon finishes.



"Pat will address our audience on leadership, teamwork and embracing change in the sport," said Christine Bowen, Conference and Programming Director, Running USA. "He is known for encouraging creative leadership and leaving audiences with renewed enthusiasm."

Lenahan Wins Inaugural Queen Bee Half Marathon


CINCINNATI (October 11, 2014) - Katie Lenahan from Cincinnati is the winner of the inaugu ral Cincinnati Queen Bee Half Marathon empowered by Kroger and P&G, in a time of 1 hour, 22 minutes, 35 seconds.
Second was Laurah Luken in 1:29:08 and third was Casey Fahrer in 1:31:23.


A total of 4,280 registered for the sold-out event, which included the Half Marathon and 4-Miler. The winner of the 4-Miler was Allison Echler of Cincinnati.

McGillivray Completes Ironman Triathlon in Kona, Hawaii


KONA, Hawaii (October 12, 2014) - Dave McGillivray, the 60-year-old race director of the B.A. A. Boston Marathon and famed endurance athlete now battling coronary heart disease, made a triumphant return to the Ironman World Championship triathlon on Saturday after a 25-year absence from the event.


McGillivray, who is a member of the USA Triathlon Hall of Fame, completed eight Ironman Triathlons in Hawaii in the 1980s. He finished 14th overall in 1980, the third year for the event, making him one of the first 30 athletes to ever finish an Ironman.



On Saturday, McGillivray finished the 2.4-mile ocean swim, 112-mile bike leg and marathon run in 13 hours, 34 minutes and 3 seconds while persisting through some of the most difficult wind, sun and heat conditions in the 36-year history of the world's toughest endurance event.

2015 United Airlines NYC Half Runner Application Is Now Open


NEW YORK - NYRR Five-Borough Series, will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2015, with United Airlines as the new title sponsor.


Applicants can visit the official 2015 United Airlines NYC Half race page to apply. The applicant drawing will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014. There were more than 40,000 applicants for the 2014 NYC Half, and 20,828 runners finished-the most in the event's history. Participants represented all 50 states and more than 65 countries.

"This race kicks off the celebrated NYRR Five-Borough Series, and it gives runners from across the country and the world the opportunity to tour some of the best sights and scenes in Manhattan-looping through Central Park, going up to Harlem, stopping traffic in Times Square, running along the Hudson River waterfront, and finishing in New York City's historic downtown area. It's a day you don't want to miss."

Jeptoo, Kipchoge Claim Victory in Chicago
CHICAGO (Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014) -- The
2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon saw a record 40,802 runners cross the finish line in Grant Park under ideal weather conditions. The men's race saw a Kenyan sweep with Eliud Kipchoge stealing the show in 2 hours, 4 minutes, 11 seconds, and Sammy Kitwara and Dickson Chumba
dueling for second, with Kitwara out-striding Chumba.


"They say if you have a will, then you will be successful," said Kipchoge, winning his first World Marathon Major and third marathon. "I had a will to transition to the marathon and that is why I have been able to win so well."

In the women's race, Rita Jeptoo (KEN) easily defended her title, breaking the tape in 2:24:35. Mare Dibaba (ETH) held on for second in 2:25:37, and current half-marathon world record holder, Florence Kiplagat (KEN), secured a podium finish in 2:25:57.
