Only 10 Exhibitor Booths Remaining

ACT QUICKLY if your company or organization would like to exhibit at the 2013 Running USA Industry Conference in Savannah as we only have 10 booths remaining! As a Running USA member, you have an opportunity to showcase products and services at the 2013 Industry Conference by becoming a sponsor or exhibitor. We expect 500 industry professionals, 60% of which are event owners, directors, and managers. Share Race Footage with Your Peers

Running USA is seeking event video footage to be incorporated into various montages for the 2013 conference. If your event has great video and would like to be included, please contact Bill Ivey, billivey@bellsouth.net, for additional details.



Morning Runs during Conference

Running routes in Savannah have been mapped by Running USA with support from DMSE. Participants in the daily morning runs will enjoy Savannah's historic sites. Additionally, Running USA is pleased to announce that local running club, Savannah Striders, will be assisting on site. This year we will be looking for some additional conference volunteers to assist with the daily runs. Interested in supporting your colleagues while they run around Savannah? Contact Christine@runningusa.org to sign up as a volunteer!

Running Festival Announces Economic Impact

The 12th annual Under Armour Baltimore Running Festival contributed an estimated $38.6 million to the city's economy according to a recent study by RESI, an economic research and consulting firm located at Towson University. This year the event attracted a record 26,100 runners, marking the 10th consecutive year of 10-15% growth from the year prior. In all, 50 states and 24 countries were represented in the 2012 field.



ASICS Announces Re-engineered GT-Series
ASICS has taken three of the best selling and most highly decorated running shoes in its arsenal and made them even better with the introduction of the re-engineered GT-Series designed to break personal bests. Making the season even brighter, the re-launch of the GT-Series also gives ASICS Facebook fans a chance to win a customized Ford Mustang GT.



New Ownership for CGI

Competitor Group, Inc. (CGI), announced that Calera Capital, a leading middle-market private equity firm, in partnership with CGI's management, has acquired CGI from Falconhead Capital.



ZOOMA Women's Race Series Announces Partnership

The Muscle Milk Light ZOOMA Women's Race Series and Every Mother Counts announced their partnership to increase education and support for maternal mortality reduction globally. Founded by Christy Turlington Burns, Every Mother Counts will be the National Charity Partner for the 2013 five-event ZOOMA series, including half marathon and 5K/10K races in Amelia Island, Austin, Annapolis, Cape Cod, and the Chicago area.



Race Director University Announces Programs

Race Director University, Inc., announced that they are offering the May RDU I & RDU II programs at DePaul University - Naperville Campus from May 20 - 24, 2013.


Virginia Schools Earn Healthy School Awards

Held on October 27 in Arlington, VA, the Healthy Kids Fun Run hosted its largest participation to date with more than 3,000 children ages five through 12. Nearly half of this race field participated through the coordinated effort of physical education teachers and PTA groups from area schools. The top five schools with the most students registered are honored with the Healthy School Award, including a monetary donation to their physical education department from MCM partner, Sodexo.

Race Roster President, Brandon Laan, announced the release of the Event Finder powered by Race Roster. This widget allows website owners to post a searchable schedule of all the endurance events in North America.



iPhone App Nets Honor

The iPhone app Upbeat Workouts for Runners, was selected as one of the awesome running app.



People in the News


The Houston Marathon Committee announced the election of Houston Marathon Veteran and local civic leader Bob Eury into the Houston Marathon Hall of Fame. Eury was honored by the Houston Marathon Committee on November 29, at the 2013 Hall of Fame Reception.



Elections were conducted December 1, at the USATF annual meeting in Daytona Beach, FL. In addition to Stephanie Hightower being elected to her second four-year term, USATF also elected former president Bill Roe as the organization's long distance running chair along with appointing chair seats to Mike Scott (Cross Country Council), Ed Torres (Men's Long Distance Running), Nancy Hobbs (Mountain Ultra Trail), and Kim Keenan-Kirkpatrick (Women's Long Distance Running).



Fleet Feet, Incorporated announced two promotions and a senior management hire to help manage the company's aggressive growth plans. Luke Rowe has been elevated to the position of Senior Vice President, Business Development. Robyn Goby has been elevated to Vice President, Marketing and Communications. Ben Cooke, formerly of Running Specialty Group, has been hired in the newly-created role of Vice President, Operations.
