Allen Johnson Earns Degree From UNC
Release: 12/17/2012
Allen Johnson, a former Tar Heel track and field standout whose career at Carolina culminated in a multiple school records, a national championship and an incredible professional career as an athlete, completed his bachelor's degree in Sociology this December.
Johnson put his education on hold to pursue his dreams on the track, but earning his degree was always a goal. His daughter, Tristine Johnson, is a current junior on the team and Johnson says earning his degree while his daughter earned hers was something truly special.
Johnson was teammates with now-head coach Harlis Meaders in the early 90s. The reunion of Johnson and Meaders, as well as assistant coach Nicole Hudson who was a member of those early-1990 squads, is one of many happening as Tar Heels continue to pursue excellence on the field of competition and in the classroom.
