2009: Returned to the upper echelon of collegiate and American pole vaulters after a year-long rehab ... placed second at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a clearance of 18-2 ½, earning his third career All-America honor and best NCAA finish ... cleared the same height at the USA Track & Field Championships, finishing eighth overall ... won first career Pac-10 Championship with a lifetime-best clearance of 18-4 ½ ... took an attempt at 18-9 ½ at Pac-10's, but the bar blew off as he was going up and Roth checked his vault and landed awkwardly, passing his remaining attempts afterwards ... moved up to second all-time at UW with 18-4 ½ clearance ...
