Shore Athletic Club, Central Park Track Club victorious at USATF Club Championships
NEW YORK CITY -- Host club Central Park Track Club won both the women’s and combined team titles at the 2015 USATF National Club Track & Field Championships on Saturday, July 11, while Shore Athletic Club was victorious on the men’s side. The meet was held at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island.

In the women’s competition, Central Park Track Club scored 182 points to Norfolk Real Deal Track Club’s 161. CPTC also defeated NRDTC in the combined team points race, scoring 301 points to overtake Norfolk’s score of 232.5. Shore Athletic Club scored 140 points as a team to take the men’s title, denying Central Park Track Club of the full team sweep. CPTC scored 119 points in the men’s competition.

Greater Boston Track Club’s Lisa Wilson and Andre Reid were named the Female and Male Performers of the Meet, as Wilson scored 24 points for her team with a win in the women’s hammer throw, a runner-up finish in the women’s shot put and a third place discus performance. Wilson was responsible for nearly half of her team’s 53 points, as GBTC finished fourth in the women’s team competition.

Reid scored in the men’s hammer throw (third place), javelin throw (third), shot put (fifth), and discus throw (sixth) for a combined 20 points over Saturday’s events. Reid accounted for almost 30% of GBTC’s points on the men’s side, and Wilson and Reid teamed up for 36% of GBTC’s overall points on the day.

Rodgers runs 9.88 to win in Madrid, named Best Men’s Performer
MADRID, Spain -- Mike Rodgers was crowned as the best men’s performer at the 33rd Meeting de Madrid, the annual IAAF World Challenge meeting on Saturday, July 11.

Rodgers ran his second-fastest time ever and 10th wind-legal sub-10 in 2015 with his winning time of 9.88. Rodgers had previously cruised in his semifinal with a time of 9.97 for the win.

Americans swept the top three in the men’s shot put, as USATF champion Joe Kovacs rebounded from a loss to Germany’s David Storl at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Lausanne last Thursday. Kovacs launched a 21.22m/69-7.50 fifth attempt to take the victory in Madrid. Christian Cantwell took the runner-up spot with his throw of 20.52m/67-4, while Cory Martin completed the American sweep with his toss of 20.43m/67-0.50 for third.

Americans cruise to victories at TrackTown Classic in Edmonton
EDMONTON, Canada -- Several American athletes put on a show at the TrackTown Classic in Edmonton, Canada on Saturday, July 11, as meet records were broken by Wallace Spearmon and Maggie Vessey.

Vessey set a meet record with her victory in the women’s 800 meters, crossing in 2:00.16. In the men’s 200 meters, it was Spearmon etching his name in the record book with his victory in 20.21.

Americans swept the 400 meter races in Edmonton, as LaShawn Merritt won the men’s 400m in 44.36, while Sanya Richards-Ross took the women’s race in 50.47.

Olympic decathlon champion Ashton Eaton won the men’s 110-meter hurdles in a new season’s best 13.38, the third-fastest time of his career, while Duane Solomon returned to his winning ways in the men’s 800 meters, taking the title in 1:46.13.
