Terrence Mahon To Coach B.A.A. High Performance Group
BOSTON - Terrence Mahon has joined the Boston Athletic Association to lead and coach a high performance distance running initiative for the organization. The club will continue to be sponsored and supported by adidas, which has been the club's sponsor since 1992. adidas has been the athletic footwear and apparel sponsor of the Boston Marathon, the B.A.A.'s premier event, since 1989.

He began his coaching career in 2003 with renowned endurance coach Joe Vigil serving as a mentor to Mahon. In 2003 and 2004, Mahon offered private coaching under his company Spiridon Running, LLC, prior to taking charge of
Team Running USA, the elite group which would later become the Mammoth Track Club. Most recently, Mahon was employed by UK Athletics in England, where he served as Lead Endurance Coach.

Tufa Sets New Course Record, Lemma Repeats at Rock 'n' Roll Providence
PROVIDENCE, RI - A new course record was set at the
Rock 'n' Roll Providence Half Marathon on Sunday, Sept. 29, as Tigist Tufa of Ethiopia dominated the women's race, winning in 1 hour, 10 minutes, 51 seconds. Tufa finished second overall, ahead of the 2nd place male finisher.
The previous women's course record was held by
Kim Smith of New Zealand, who ran 1:11:54 here in 2011 and currently holds the U.S. All-Comers record in the half-marathon, making Tufa's accomplishment all the more impressive.
Tufa ran alone for the entire race and was pleased with her performance as she prepares for the New York City Marathon later this year. Behind Tufa was Providence local
Katie Moulton, who placed second in 1:19:42.
"I knew my pace was off and I was in no man's land with nobody behind me or around me the entire race so I just tried to settle into a comfortable pace and just finish," said Moulton. "It's definitely a pretty challenging course."

Tedcorbitt.com was made public on the 51st anniversary
of Corbitt's historic trip to the London-to-Brighton 52.5 mile road race in 1962. On Sunday, Sept. 29, he set an American Record with a 4th place finish in a race that served as the world championship of ultramarathon running during this era.

LA Rolls Out Olympic Carpet for USA Track & Field Officials
LOS ANGELES - Civic and business leaders are rolling out the red carpet for
USA Track & Field officials, who will soon select the host city for the
2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. Competing as one of three finalists, Los Angeles is pulling out all the stops to secure the event, which would take place in March 2016, just months before the Rio Summer Games. Many observers view the effort as a dry run for a Los Angeles campaign to secure the
2024 Summer Games. That effort is gaining momentum as local officials organize to bring the Summer Games here for the third time in history.
"Our city has a rich and vibrant Olympic history, having hosted the games in
1932 and 1984," said Mayor Eric Garcetti.
"The legacy of the 1984 games lives on today, and our great city is ready to show the nation that our Olympic spirit continues to thrive."
Three-time Olympian Deena Kastor, who grew up in Southern California and won the bronze medal in the marathon at the 2004 Athens Olympics, said Los Angeles is the perfect place to host the Olympic Marathon Trials, given its rich history and vibrant future.
