Member Profile: Athletepath

As a triathlete, runner and professional event manager, David Embree was frustrated with the lack of social connectivity capabilities with event platforms. He envisioned a broader community for racers and their supporters to easily share their excitement before, during and after events via Facebook, Twitter, text and email. With this vision, Embree created Athletepath, a new frontier of social media for the new generation of racers and events.

"Our first year using Athletepath's registration platform was 2012, and we nearly doubled our growth," said Gary Wallesen, Portland Triathlon Event Director. "In 2013, we sold out a month sooner and had four times the athlete retention. Athletepath's tremendous social integration encourages racers to spread the word to friends and family. They've been a key part of our success!"

Since its launch in November 2011, more than 1.5 million athletes have used Athletepath to discover races, share with friends and motivate themselves to achieve higher goals. The Hood to Coast Relay and the Portland Triathlon are just two of the more than 6,000 events who use the system to increase social sharing and broaden awareness.

Club leaders and coaches find the system useful as well. "Athletepath lets me keep up with my racing friends, the athletes I coach and my frequent competitors," said Chris Bagg, professional triathlete, cyclocross racer and coach.

It's free for event directors to post their races on Athletepath, which provides a unique platform to broaden their reach. The social sharing functions make it easy for athletes to encourage others to sign up for races and keep the conversation going throughout the season.

Events using Athletepath as their primary registration system enjoy an extremely simple, yet powerful platform. More details at this link.
