Riding on the bus from downtown St. Paul to downtown Minneapolis I was sitting next to a good friend of mine, Jesse Armijo. We chatted very little, both of us were very nervous, and my stomach was in knots. This was the worst my stomach has felt before a race in a very long time. Jesse commented how that is a really good thing; he said it meant I really cared about how the race would go, and secondly, nerves before a big race generally result in great performances. I’m glad he was right about that.
