Tech Tent Returns to Conference 2014

We will be hosting a Tech Tent at Running USA's annual conference on Sunday, February 9. This is a great way to connect with attendees.

* Projector and screen along with Wi-Fi will be provided.
* Presenters will be provided a 15-minute segment to promote their product or service.
Any vendor can take advantage of this great program, however space is limited and is on a first-come first-served basis. Of the 16 spaces, 10 remain. Please contact Michele Stone at michele@runningusa.org for more information.

Saucony® Announces Grant Recipients

Saucony and the Saucony Run for Good Foundation, established to help combat childhood obesity by providing financial support to community-based youth running programs, has announced its latest round of grant winners. Since 2006, the Saucony Run For Good Foundation has awarded over $1 million dollars to schools and community organizations all dedicated to preventing childhood obesity through running and an active lifestyle. Saucony continues to challenge runners everywhere to join the cause by logging miles on the Saucony Run4Good App.



Ragnar Relay Series Announces Partnership

Ragnar Relay Series announced a two-year agreement with PRO Compression Gear which will become the official running sock for all Ragnar events, both the company's 200ish Ragnar Relay Series road runs, as well as the company's new Ragnar Trail Series presented by Salomon. The company joins other Ragnar Relay Series national sponsors including Petzl, Clif Bar, SweatVac, Monster Beverages, Nuun and Scott James Jewelers.



Austin Marathon adds Event

The Austin Marathon and Half Marathon presented by Freescale will introduce a Couples Challenge division to its 2014 event. This free challenge is open to all registrants, and will be held as a race within a race during the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon on February 16.



Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Offers Athlete Tracking

Fans of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and the Medtronic TC 10 Mile on October 6, can follow the progress of runners via text message again this year thanks to AthleteTracker, powered by Avtex, a complimentary application that will send real-time reports on individual runners on race day.



Ragnar Trail Atlanta Announced

Ragnar Trail Relays presented by Salomon, announced their first event in the state of Georgia with the new Ragnar Trail Atlanta, April 4-5, 2014.



Chevron Houston Marathon Announces Sponsorship

The Houston Marathon Committee (HMC) announced that Chevron Corporation has renewed its title sponsorship of the annual Chevron Houston Marathon road race, extending their partnership through 2018. The Chevron Houston Marathon is the premier winter marathon and will be conducted by the HMC in downtown Houston on January 19.



Mankato Marathon Shares Announces Artwork

The 2013 Mankato Marathon print was inspired by the tragic events of the 2013 Boston Marathon. Artist, Ginny Bergerson explains in her own words how the design of this year's winning print emerged from a blank canvas. The commemorative print is considered a memento that runners collect year after year. The 2013 Mankato Marathon Print can be purchased prior to race day.







VRD Stages new Event

The Vail Recreation District (VRD) announced that the EagleVail Zombie Apocalypse 2 Mile-Fun-Run-For-Your-Life will take place in EagleVail on October 19.



Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon & 1/2 Marathon Sells Out

The 34th Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon & 1/2 Marathon has sold every last spot in the race for the seventh consecutive year. A field of 18,000 athletes will compete October 20, 2013. This is the fastest the marathon has ever sold all its space.

Among the notable participants for the 2013 ING New York City Marathon on November 3, Global Maternal Health Advocate Christy Turlington Burns, actor Patrick Wilson, and culinary masterminds Joe Bastianich and

Dave McGillivray will serve as keynote speaker at the Runner's World Half Marathon and Running Festival October 18-20, in Bethlehem, PA.



ASICS America has once again joined forces with Christina Applegate to launch a pink collection in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, including the brand's most popular footwear and apparel items in the eye-catching bright pink.



Minnesota Olympian Carrie Tollefson and O'Neal Hampton Jr., a contestant on the popular television program The Biggest Loser, will be the headline presenters at next week's Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Health & Fitness Expo on October 4 and 5.



The launch of tedcorbitt.com marks the 51st anniversary of Corbitt's first time at the London-to-Brighton 52.5 mile road race in 1962, where he set an American Record with a 4th place finish in a race that served as the world championship of ultramarathon running during this era. The site is a tribute and comprehensive look at Ted Corbitt; the athlete, running administrator, and physical therapist.


Terrence Mahon has joined the Boston Athletic Association to lead and coach a high performance distance running initiative for the organization. The club will continue to be sponsored and supported by adidas, which has been the club's sponsor since 1992. adidas has been the athletic footwear and apparel sponsor of the Boston Marathon, the B.A.A.'s premier event, since 1989.

Job Title: Event Director

Vision Event Management is a road running event producer that owns or produces over 20 events per year. Mudathlon is a mud and obstacle course event series with 3 events per year. In 2012 the 2 companies produced events for over 100,000 participants. The events VEM and Mudathlon produce cover 8 states in cities such as Atlanta, Little Rock, Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago. The two companies are based in Westfield, IN, an Indianapolis suburb.



We are looking for a person with 3-5 years of event production experience preferably in the running industry but not a must. The person must be willing to relocate to Indianapolis. The job will entail travel and working many weekends through-out the year. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organization skills to be able to manage numerous events at once. A strong detailed oriented self-starter with creativity and problem solving skills will thrive in this position.
