SEATTLE, Wash. — Sacramento State's Lea Wallace regained her spot as the nation's leader in the 800, running 2:03.07 at the UW Last Chance Meet on Saturday.
Wallace held the top mark in the country earlier this season with a time of 2:05.42 also in Seattle. However, she fell from the top spot and entered Saturday in need of an automatic qualifying time to guarantee her a spot in the upcoming NCAA Div. I Indoor Championships.
The senior easily beat the standard of 2:05.00 and is now .72 seconds ahead of the next closest time by a Div. I woman this year. Her time also break her own school record of 2:04.73 which was set last season.
Fellow senior Renisha Robinson also crushed her season best in the event, running 2:05.71. Robinson is now ranked 17th nationally, leaving her on the bubble for the championships.
One week after winning the Big Sky title and setting the school record in the pole vault, Lizzy Norvell also improved on her personal record. Norvell cleared 13-05.75 to tie for fourth in the meet.
Andy White was the lone member of the Hornet men's team competing at the meet. White finished first in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.79.
