NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Thursday that the association will induct three new members to their Division II Track & Field Athlete Hall of Fame. Elva Dryer (Western State), Undrae Walker (Cal State Stanislaus), and Barton Williams (Cal Poly) will be recognized during an induction ceremony on Wednesday, May 25, in Stanislaus, Calif., held in conjunction with the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships.

Elva Dryer - Western State University

Dryer, a seven-time NCAA Champion combining cross country and track, was, in total, a 13-time USTFCCCA All-American. Dryer was the 1993 and 1994 NCAA Division II Cross Country Champion and helped lead the Western State squad to a runner-up team finish in 1994. On the track, Dryer won four-straight NCAA outdoor crowns at 3000 meters from 1993 to 1996 and is only one of five to ever sweep an event in all four years of eligibility among women in outdoor events in Division II. In addition, Dryer won the NCAA outdoor 1500 meter crown in 1996.

After winning 16 individual conference titles, the RMAC All-Century Team member was named the RMAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of Century. Dryer also claimed the top female senior student-athlete award at Western State and 1995 Colorado’s Female Collegiate Athlete of the Year. Her running achievements continued post-collegiately with spots on the 2000 U.S. Olympic Team in the 5000 meters and the 2004 Athens team in the 10,000 meters.

Undrae Walker - California State University-Stanislaus

The NCAA 1994 Outdoor National Champion in the high jump was a four-time All-American outdoors in the event. In addition, Walker was a four-time Northern California Athletic Conference champion and conference championship record holder. Still holding a school record of 7-1¾ (2.14m), the two-time Stanislaus Athlete of the Year was inducted into their hall of fame in 2000. Walker currently serves as principal at Reyn Franca School in Denair, Calif., and coaches basketball and track & field in the area.

Barton “Bart” Williams - Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo

Williams was the NCAA Division II 1979 champion in the 400-meter hurdles, with a then-championships record of 49.32. All told, Williams, was a nine-time USTFCCCA All-American, including a four-time honoree in the 400 hurdles. The Cal Poly Hall of Fame member still holds school records in the 400 hurdles and 400 dash and as a member of four relays. Williams was a member of U.S. teams for the Pan-America and World University Games and was a member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic boycott team. Williams turned to coaching soon after being an athlete and has coached track and field at Contra Costa College since 1982.
