NORMAN, Okla. — With the beginning of the 2011 spring semester, the Oklahoma Track and Field Program welcomed two mid-year transfers to its women’s team. Alexandra Acker and Lauren Guerrieri arrived in Norman from West Virginia and Southern California, respectively. Acker will compete in the pole vault while at OU and Guerrieri joins the throws group.

While at West Virginia, Acker earned All-Big East honors in the pole vault during both the indoor and outdoor 2009 seasons. The Erie, Pa., native has one season of indoor eligibility and two seasons of outdoor eligibility remaining. Acker competed in her first meet as a Sooner last weekend at the Texas A&M Challenge, tying teammate Sarah Pappas for second with a height of 12-8.25 (3.87).

Like Acker, Guerrieri joins the Oklahoma program having already earned All-Conference honors, earning All-Pac 10 honors in 2010 after finishing second at the conference meet in the discus. Guerrieri unleashed a PR of 168-6 (51.37) earlier in the season to finish first in the discus at the UCLA vs. USC Dual Meet.
