Gill Athletics and USA Track & Field commit to 2011 National High School Track Coach of the Year Award

CHAMPAIGN— The start of the new year sees the return of the Gill Athletics National High School Coach of the Year Award. Two high school track and field coaches - one girls’ team and one boys’ team - who exemplify excellence in coaching records, team performances, and community services will be chosen by USA Track & Field’s (USATF) Coaches Advisory Committee. The winning coaches will each receive $5,000 worth of Gill Athletics equipment for their schools’ track and field programs.

“Gill Athletics knows that coaches are the backbone of great sports teams,” said David Hodge, Gill Athletics Chief Executive Officer. “It is Gill Athletics’ pleasure to commend the outstanding individuals who make track and field, especially at the grass roots level, the best it can be.”

The two respective Coaches of the Year will be hosted at the 2011 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 23-26 in Eugene, Ore. and featured in the on-field awards presentation. Winners from the award’s inaugural year as well as video from the 2010 awards presentation can be seen at www.GillCoachoftheYear.com

“To recognize the accomplishments of our top High School coaches, Gill has made a huge public statement about the importance of coaches as fantastic role models for young athletes,” said Terry Crawford, USATF Director of Coaching. “Gill’s gift of $10,000 in new equipment inventory points to the funding needed to maintain our interscholastic athletic programs and develop our future Olympians. USATF is honored to support this award in partnership with Gill.”
